Let yourself fall in love with our beautiful city

Angers is the third most populous city in Northwestern France. Its inhabitants are called Angevins. In the heart of the city you’ll find the Château d’Angers and the Tapisserie de l’Apocalypse (The Apocalypse Tapestry), which is the biggest medieval tapestry in the world. Speaking of the Middle Ages, another amazing thing you’ll find within the city centre is the Maison d’Adam (Adam’s House), which is a perfect example of the half-timbered houses built during that time.

Angers is also a young and dynamic city

Nearly half of the city’s population is under 30 and more than 38 000 students are enrolled in our universities and grandes écoles each year.

Angers, a connected city

Moreover, Angers is a city that lives with its time. The Cité de l’objet connecté, inaugurated in 2015, aims at helping start-ups and companies with their IoT (Internet of Things) projects. That same year, the city was also certified French Tech.

A city that rhymes with culture

Moreover, Angers enjoys a rich cultural life: museums, festivals, theatres, concert halls, you name it! There are also several big events throughout the year like: the Festival Premiers Plans in January dedicated to European first films, the Festival d’Anjou in June of dramatic arts, or even Les Accroches Coeurs in September, a street performance festival that lasts three days and attracts more than 200 000 visitors.

A green city…

Angers is engaged in a sustainable development path. The city has a competitiveness cluster for sustainable plants called Vegepolys but also the plant-themed amusement park Terra Botanica with 275 000 plant species from all-around the world. Moreover, Angers has a lot of green areas, public parks and gardens, where you’ll be able to relax and have some good time with your friends!

…and sports!

Angevins are also very active so if you’d like to play sport, you’ll be able to choose among 260 clubs. You won’t get bored!
